Online Lottery Scams

Fraudulent Emails

Congratulations, you've won! But wait... You didn't enter any contests. Of course not - there's no entry form for scam websites.

If you receive an email from someone you've never heard of, from a city you've never heard of, from a company you've never heard of, etc. Chances are, the email is a straight-up scam.

The best way to check for a scam is to hop on Google.com and search for key words that are in the email that you have received. Search through the results and see if there are any scam reports regarding the specific email.

If you don't find any search results relating to the specific email that you have received, it doesn't mean that the email isn't a scam. It could be a new scam that hasn't yet been documented. Contact the local Lottery Association relating to the country or origin of the email and ask if the company named in the email is real and if they tend to send out emails to strangers.

Like they always say, if it's too good to be true... It probably is.

Fraudulent Lottery Companies

Have you recently come across a new lottery website that looks a little fishy? Are you a new visitor to a lottery related website? Before you purchase anything or give out your information, make sure you check with the appropriate authorities first!

First, reference the website with the World Lottery Association (They are your new best friend!) If the website you are researching is not referencing or listed on the World Lottery Association's website, chances are, they are fraudulent and are out to scam you.

If you're still uneasy about a specific website, don't be afraid to contact the WLA using the appropriate contact information listed on their WLA Contact Page.
