Caribbean Poker, Preface

Caribbean Poker is a great game to play, since you are only playing against the dealer (Also referred to as the bank).

First, you should familliarize yourself with the payout rates:

Payout Ratio: Poker Hand:
1:1 One Pair or Ace-King
2:1 Two Pairs
3:1 Three of a Kind
4:1 Straight (Any, non-flush)
5:1 Flush
7:1 Full House
20:1 Four of a Kind
50:1 Straight Flush
100:1 Royal (straight) Flush

Remember, the main goal of the game is to beat the dealer, and only the dealer!

Caribbean Poker Strategies

Never... Bluff. Since you are playing against the dealer and the dealer will always play with a qualifying hand, you will lose 25% of the time when you bluff with a weak hand.

Always fold if you do not have an Ace-King or higher -- there's no point in playing a hand that is anything but... A poker hand.

Hands to Play

Once you have placed your ante and have been dealt your hand, fold unless you have any of these hands:

  • Ace-King or higher
  • One pair -- regardless of how small it is. You will be dealt one pair at least 42% of the time.
  • Two pair
  • Any Straight, regardless of it being a 2-6 straight or an Ace-high straight
  • A Flush consisting of any cards (beit it a 6-high flush or an ace-high flush)
  • Any Straight Flush
  • A Royal Flush

Again, we stress that you do not bluff. If you're coming from a strong background in Texas Hold'em, we understand that this can be hard to grasp! The dealer will not fold a qualifying hand, so make sure that you only call if you have a pair or higher.
