Like the name suggests, Caribbean Poker originated in the Caribbean Islands. This is a very young form of poker - it was started in the 1980's inside of a casino that was called "King International Casino". It is now refered to as the "Excelsior".
Shortly after the game was conceived, it spread in popularity among the Caribbean hotels and casinos and it didn't take long for the game to reach North American and other continents across the world.
Game play. First, you and other players place an ante - a required pre-bet. Mainly, you have to pay to play!
Once the Ante's are place, the dealer will deal 5 cards to each player as well as him or herself. Four of the Dealer's cards will be face down, revealing one for you to see.
Based on your hand as well as the revealed dealer card, you can chose to fold, or to make a call bet, which would be twice the amount of the ante.
If you chose to stay in, the dealer will then show his or her hand. If the dealer does not have Ace-King or higher, the hand will not qualify. If the dealer has an Ace-King or higher, his or her hand will then be put against your hand. The better hand wins.
If your hand beats the dealer, you will be paid accordingly. (Please See our Strategy Guide to Determine the Payout).
If the dealer's hand beats yours, you will lose both your ante and your call bet.
